MY DREAMS CAME TRUE
Inspired by Ravi in support of the
THE ACE GRANT THROUGH THE AMERICAN JUNIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION
Dear Mr. Hamblin and Members of the AJGA Board of Directors,
I want to thank you for making possible my participation this year
in the AJGA Tournament season.
I started golf somewhat late - after my 8th grade year - but my passion for the game and my desire to pursue a career in golf remain steadfast goals. This year was a difficult time in our family as my mother - our breadwinner - had been out of work for almost two years. In June, she accepted a hospice outreach position in Phoenix but the job was contigent on a quick moce on our part across country. The difference in school calendars between Philadelphia and Phoenix meant I only had six weeks of "vacation" and tournament playing time - a downer since this was the summer before my senior year. The good news is that I can play golf year around
in Phoenix to work on my game.
The AJGA scholarship afforded me the hope to make my dream of a Division I collegiate team and career in golf come true. Since I am a senior this year, I plan to take a year off between high school and college to work on my game and tournament resume, a get a job to help out our family and do some internships.
The scholarship provided me a lot of "first" experiences - making a plane trip by myself, learning to arrange for lodging and food and getting to courses in an unknown environment; staying with a host family thru AJGA and after my tournament in Pittsburgh, saying goodbye to friends and the world of my childhood on my own as my parents had already left Philadelphia for Phoenix.
Once again I want to thank you and your company for giving other young people and me the opportunity to follow our dreams.
I hope to report back to you a solid return on your investment!!
