Living a Life of Service to Others is Success

Florence Zimroth A Wife, Mother, Nurse, Grandmother, and Friend
For a woman who was a child of the Depression, Florence Zimroth accomplished many things. Born and raised in Coney Island, NY her family had nothing and neither did any of her friends. To her this was normal and the friends she made back then remained her most trusted confidants until her death this past February. Her life was one of great fulfillment as she served others on a daily basis.
As her older brother fought in World War II, and her Dad worked long hours in numerous job's to feed the family Florence went to work herself. She had no choice back then as her mother was severely diabetic which made college an unrealistic option. Life went on and the War finally ended. Florence was maturing into a strong independent woman which was an uncommon trait in those times. It was not long after this that Florence met a Veteran who would become her husband.
During the next 53 years Florence Zimroth moved from the only home she had ever known with her husband and three children to Florida. It was there that the rest of us observed her strength, commitment, and her intelligence. At the age of 40 with one son in college, another finishing HS, and a daughter in elementary school, Florence finally went to college to become a Registered Nurse her lifelong dream.
During her 25 year Nursing career Florence helped many patients get better and mentored many nurses to become their best. Her children all grew to be successful adults, she also had 6 grandchildren and remained in a very loving marriage. Some people never know how much they mean to others, we witnessed how much our mother meant at her funeral.
Florence died an untimely death on February 23rd, 2005. Family and friends were shocked at this sad turn of events. A relatively young woman of 74 was dead in the blink of an eye. Within days of the news over 150 people poured into the funeral home to say goodbye. It was truly amazing to see this amount of people who were touched by her in some way. Without trying, Florence had left an incredible legacy.
I don't think anyone who lives there life in service to others, and has love and work can be thought of in any way but a SUCCESS.
